Autumn Term implementation
The TSC is aware that many Teaching School Leads are currently receiving requests for advice and reassurance from Headteachers and schools concerned about implementing the variety of policy changes that need to be in place from September 2014.
Following discussions with the DfE, we have prepared a summary document (Click here to download) that brings together the core guidance and advice on many of the policy changes, for both Secondary and Primary. This document may assist you in referring colleagues to the most up to date advice and please feel free to circulate it to any networks that you have connections to. We have also placed a copy of the documents on the TSC website.
You may also have been contacted by the regional TSC representative for your area inviting you or colleagues within your Alliance to offer additional ‘support’. The nature of which can often be addressed through a ‘phone call or brief meeting.
The main areas of requested support are:
- The new primary curriculum
- Universal free school meals
- Assessment beyond levels
- SEND changes
- Pay structure reform
As Teaching School Alliances seem best-placed to offer this ‘light touch’ support and reassurance and any of your alliance members, therefore, who have experience delivering these changes and feel in a position to support, share and offer a ‘friendly ear’ could be linked to prospective schools through a contact point in your Teaching School Alliance – possibly via a web portal on your Teaching School website. If you are happy to do this then please, do let us know. At the same time as you publicise the contacts the TSC will also generate a data-base of contacts and post on the TSC website. This will ensure clear sign-posting of support for colleagues by sector, phase or region.
Clearly, time is of the essence to ensure an effective offer. Could I please encourage you to circulate to your alliance members as soon as possible. Should you want any further information, please do contact me.
